Abbie Loveland Tuller School was founded in 1926 and opened in Tucson in 1955 by the Episcopal Sisters of the Order of the Teachers of the Children of God. Mother Abbie's philosophy was "religion and education must be combined because a school has about 90 percent influence on the development of a child's character." Tuller is a co-ed day school for pre-kindergarten through 8th grade teaching students of all races and religions. The elementary curriculum includes the Tuller Method written with the knowledge that each child works at a different pace.

The curriculum focuses on challenging academics, a deep commitment to the fine arts, spiritual growth in a pluralistic atmosphere, and athletics – thus nourishing the mind, spirit and body. We seek to carry out this mission in a traditional Episcopal setting. St. Michael's strives to maintain a pluralistic community, drawing teachers and students from all social, economic, ethnic and religious backgrounds.
